HPEF's seventh event, Infinitus, will take place in Orlando, Florida, from July 15 - 18, 2010. The conference will take place at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando®
We will open registration at 10 a.m. on July 15, 2010. Programming will take place on July 16 and 17. We wrap up the conference on Sunday, July 18 with a Leaving Feast and Auction.
Infinitus will be at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando® in Orlando, Florida - the home of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter®.
Infinitus welcomes all Harry Potter scholars and fans, whether or not their beards yet reach the floor. We are adding a Kid’s Track this year for our younger fans aged 5-13. Anyone who has turned 18 as of July 15, 2010, is welcome to attend on their own.
Anyone between the ages of 14 and 17 as of July 15, 2010, is welcome to attend with a parent or legal guardian, or a chaperone who is over the age of 21 provided that a parental permission slip appointing the chaperone has been signed and notarized; the parent, guardian or chaperone must have the same type of registration as the minor, or a higher level of registration.
Like past HPEF conferences, programming for Infinitus is a geared towards an adult audience, and parents should be advised that some programming may contain mature themes and language.
Do I need to buy park tickets to attend Infinitus?
No - park tickets are not required for any Infinitus programming. If you would like to visit either of the Universal Studios® parks outside of Infinitus events, you will need to purchase park tickets. General park admission is not included in your Infinitus registration or hotel reservation. We are working with Universal Studios to get a discounted ticket price for Infinitus attendees. We should have news regarding that very soon. Note: Infinitus special park event does require purchase of a separate ticket.
Will JKR be there?
We don't expect her, although we would certainly welcome her! Neither HP Education Fanon, Inc., nor Infinitus is endorsed, sanctioned, or any other way supported, directly or indirectly, by Warner Bros. Entertainment, the Harry Potter book publishers, or JK Rowling and her representatives.
HPEF and Infinitus welcome scholars and fans of all origins to explore the mysteries and questions buried in JK Rowling’s novels. Anyone who wishes to deepen their knowledge of and appreciation for the books, explore their influence on our culture, or simply bask in one of the largest and most influential fan followings ever assembled will find a home at Infinitus. By combining the elements of an academic conference and a fan convention, Infinitus will offer an opportunity to investigate, deconstruct, discuss, and illustrate these future classics in the company of fellow enthusiasts.

Will there be fanfic readings? A gallery? Wizard rock? Podcasts? Cosplay? Meetups? Quidditch?

The CFP is our Call for Proposals to fill our programming slate. The programming focus of Infinitus explores the themes of creativity of the Harry Potter fandom – Imagining the Infinite Possibilities. The Harry Potter books give us so much inspiration. We want to showcase the many ways Harry Potter fans have used that inspiration to create everything from art to writing to communities.
We seek proposals for papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and workshops that relate to these themes, as well as proposals pertaining to other areas of interest to the Harry Potter fan community.
Will the proceedings be published?
The Infinitus Proceedings will be compiled after the event and published sometime in 2010. We are working to arrange on-site purchases of programming sessions on CDs, as we've done at our last few events.
Will I be sorted into a house?
No. Most people have their own preferences for what House they belong in, and we respect their choices. If you wish, you may select your House, or choose not to choose a house, when you register for Infinitus.
Are any events open to the public?
Yes. Our live wizard chess performance on Thursday, watching Quidditch and visits to the Vendors room and the Gallery are all accessible to the public, as is the auction.

I'm a member of the press and would like to cover Infinitus. What is your press policy?
Credentialed media are welcome to attend Infinitus and cover its events. Please contact Aziza Aba Butain at firstname.lastname@example.org to request information on press passes.
I run an HP Website / newsgroup / podcast / etc. Does that mean I can come on a press pass?
That depends on whether your site meets our website's press requirements. Our press policy will be up this fall, or you can send an email to email@example.com if you have questions.
Because of health and safety issues, only service animals are permitted at Infinitus.
What is HPEF's policy on harassment?
Infinitus does not tolerate harassment or violence against anyone, including other attendees, vendors, speakers and staff. Please notify a member of the Infinitus Security Team regarding behavior that is abusive, insulting, intimidating, bothersome, or acting in an unsafe or illegal manner. HPEF reserves the right to revoke tickets and/or the badge required for attendance at INFINITUS without refund, in case of violation of our Code of Conduct.
What is the official hotel of INFINITUS?
Universal Orlando® Resort on site hotels in Orlando, Fl., are the official Infinitus hotels. Please call the group reservations number, 866-360-7395, and let them know you're with Infinitus. Here are a few things to remember:
Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando® room rate: $210/night SOLD OUT
Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando® $210/night
Hard Rock Hotel® at Universal Orlando® room rate: $255/night
We are only holding only a small number of at the Hard Rock, so book early if that's where you want to stay there.
The conference area is in the Royal Pacific hotel. Water taxis will be available for attendees staying in the other two hotels.
If you stay at Universal Orlando®, you'll be able to enjoy exclusive benefits that Universal provides only to on-site guests. Each room key-card is also your Express Pass; you’ll skip the regular lines at most rides and attractions. It’s the fastest way to ride – enjoy unparalleled access all day long, as often as you’d like, just by showing your hotel room key card at each express entrance. We expect that the Express Pass will work at the roller coasters in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter but not at Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. However, all hotel guests will be able to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter after 8:00 a.m. throughout the week of Infinitus (and possibly other days before and after as well). Even if you just stay one night at one of the Universal Orlando® hotels, you'll enjoy your Express Pass on both of the days, as it works from the moment you check in until the parks close on the day you check out.
Infinitus attendees who stay at one of the on-site hotels can also take the complimentary shuttle to nearby SeaWorld Orlando or Wet n' Wild waterpark and charge purchases made in the Parks and at UNIVERSAL CITYWALK® to their rooms; priority seating is also available for hotel guests at certain Universal Orlando®restaurants.
The Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando®is now sold out from Thursday through Saturday night during Infinitus, but the low Infinitus rate of $210 plus tax is still available at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando®, or you could stay at the Hard Rock Hotel® at Universal Orlando® for $255 plus tax per night.
Of course, any Infinitus registrants - and their friends and family - who stay at any of Universal Orlando’s® three on-site hotels, including Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando® or the Hard Rock Hotel® at Universal Orlando® , will enjoy early access to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter only at UNIVERSAL’S ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE® starting at eight o'clock in the morning. Hotel guests also can utilize the Express Access* pass on all three rides in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as well as most other rides in both Universal Orlando parks. * note: Express Access may be limited at certain times.
Do I have to stay at one of the official hotels?
It isn't required, but by staying in one of the official hotels, you'll help us meet our financial obligations to the venue. We've secured our rates (see above) for up to four people in a room, and that is a terrific rate for Orlando in the summertime. Most importantly, staying at the Universal Orlando Resort puts you in the middle of all the action. We have things going on from early in the morning until late at night, and if you're at the Universal Orlando Resorts you won't have to travel after hours or during rush hour to get back to the conference. You can stay as late as you like, and if you're tired, your bed will be close!
Are there any other benefits to staying a one of the official hotels??

Will Infinitus be accessible to individuals with disabilities?
Yes. The Royal Pacific Hotel has handicapped-accessible rooms available upon request. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or special needs during the symposium.
I'm coming in for a few extra days. Can I stay in the official hotel at the discounted rate for additional nights?
Yes. The discounted rate at the Universal Orlando Resorts is available from July 12, 2010 through July 21, 2010; subject to room availability. Please call the hotel directly and tell them your reservation preferences, and that you are with Infinitus.
How can I get to the hotel from the airport?
Updated: There are many cabs and shuttle services available; Infinitus has procured coupons from MEARS and you can find yours here.
Update: Online registration is now closed. Single day registration tickets may be available on site.
How much is registration, and what does it include?
There are many levels to Registrations:
Basic Registration- $200 - includes all Thursday through Sunday programming tracks, the Welcome Feast, the Leaving Feast, pick-up Quidditch, admission to the Vendor Room, Common Room, the auction, in-hotel film showings, meet-ups, Podcasts, and the Ball.
Single Day Registrations- includes either Friday or Saturday programming tracks, pick-up Quidditch, admission to the Vendor Room, Common Room, the auction, in-hotel film showings, meet-ups, and Podcasts. Single Day pricing is as follows:
$45 - Single Day Registrations are available for Friday or Saturday. Day Registrations do not include any meals.
Two Day Registrations- includes both Friday and Saturday programming tracks, pick-up Quidditch, admission to the Vendor Room, Common Room, meet-ups, and Podcasts. Two Day pricing is as follows:
$90 - Two Day Registrations are available for Friday and Saturday. Day Registrations do not include any meals.
Merlin's Circle - $400 - includes everything that comes in a full registration, plus both Keynote Luncheons, a continental breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning, a special reception on Thursday afternoon and preferred seating at the large formal programming sessions as well as at the Harvey Putter premiere, A Very Potter Sequel, The Final Battle and all castmember Q&A sessions. You can upgrade from any other registration type to Merlin's Circle within the registration system through June 23; no upgrades or Merlin's Circle registrations will be available at the door.
Kid’s Track Registrations
What is the Kids’ Track?
The Kids’ Track is a supervised program for kids ages 5 to 13. It is not a day-care situation, and at least one parent or legal guardian of any child in the Kids’ Track program must remain at the Royal Pacific Resort Hotel while said child is in the Kids’ Track program. Kids’ Track volunteers are subject to a background check; they are not able to change diapers or assist children in the restroom, and accordingly all children attending the Kids’ Track must be fully capable of using the lavatories on their own.
What times do the Kids’ tracks run?
Friday (July 16): 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Saturday (July 17): 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:30-5:00 p.m.
Please note that kids must be picked up at precisely noon and 5:00 PM; late pickups will be assessed a fee per minute late. Also, each child must have his or her parent or guardian sign the Kids’ Track Agreement here- http://www.infinitus2010.org/docs/Kids%27_Track_Parent_Agreement.pdf
What types of events are included in the Kids’ track programming?
The Kids’ Track will include crafts, a child-friendly version of Muggle-ized Quidditch, games inspired by the wizarding world, presentations and role-playing with actors and actresses.
How much is the program?
Parents can choose to enroll their child in the program on Friday and Saturday only ($50 total, no meals included) or opt for the package that includes both days and the Welcome and Leaving Feasts ($125). Single-day and on-site registration for the Kids’ Track will not be
permitted; registration will close when 50 children are registered, or no later than June 23.
What is the Merlin’s Circle Package?
In addition to our regular registration we are bringing back the Merlin's Circle Sponsorship for those looking for a little more. The $400 Merlin's Circle Package for Infinitus includes:
Full Registration (complete with Welcome and Leaving Feasts)
Friday and Saturday breakfasts
One ticket to each Keynote Lunch
A special "Circle" Reception with Featured Guests
A commemorative badge ribbon plus an exclusive keepsake
Why can’t I register my friends or family when I register myself?
Each registrant must have a separate email address, so if the need arises you can create dummy emails but please keep in mind that each registrant will receive an email to this address with the individual confirmation number. You will need that number if changes to your registration need to be made.
I want to register my children with myself, what do I do?
Kid’s Track registration is now available. Go to the Kids Track page for more information.
Is the Ball included in regular registration?
Yes! There is no reason to purchase ball tickets separately if you are registering for the entire event. If you are purchasing a Single Day registration for Saturday or a Two Day registration, you must purchase an additional ticket for the ball.
Is the special park event at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter included in registration?
No. A separate ticket must be purchased for this event - it's called Night of a Thousand Wizards - and the ticket can only be purchased by Infinitus conference attendees. We have worked with Universal to develop a variety of ticket packages that are available at a discount from Universals at-the-gate prices.

Can I register at the Basic level and upgrade later?
You can modify or upgrade your registration through June 23, 2010. If you change from a single-day registration to a Full Registration, you will be charged the difference between your paid balance and the new balance due on your selections; please contact
email@example.com with any questions. You can also add additional events until June 23, or add events that are not sold out at Infinitus itself, and, as long as you don't change your
registration level (Single Day, Full, Merlin's Circle) you'll just be charged the cost of the event you're adding on.
Why does it cost a lot compared to Sci-Fi and Anime Cons?
We keep our costs as low as we can, but many cons don't offer the kinds of activities we do, including food. We're also a lot smaller than many cons. They can spread the cost of audio-visual equipment, guests, and overhead across much higher numbers of attendees.
I have a one-day registration. Can I add on a food event?
Yes, until any given event is sold out. If you have purchased a one-day registration for Friday and/or Saturday, you may purchase additional tickets to any food event occurring that same day, or to the Ball if you have a Saturday registration.
Can I purchase one-day registrations for more than one day?
Yes. If you wish, you can purchase one-day registrations for one or two days. One-day registrations do not include any food events scheduled that day or any event requiring an additional charge.
Do Presenters get a special rate?
We're unable to give Presenters a discounted rate, but their rate will not increase beyond the $180 base level. If you need an accepted presentation before you can register, in order to qualify for institutional reimbursement, please notify the Programming team when you submit your response to the CFP.
Will there be a discount for volunteers?
Yes. Those who volunteer 150 or more hours before July 10, 2010, or who volunteer 40 or more hours between July 10 and July 19, 2010, or an equivalent combination thereof, will be able to register at a discount of $30.00 off the then-current registration rate. Please see your volunteer leader for more details.
Is there a registration discount for additional members of the same family?
Regrettably, no. All family members must register individually and at the rate applicable to all conference attendees.
I have a large group that wants to attend together. Can we get a group rate?
Infinitus has no special group rate since our prices are already set at the minimum rate necessary to cover expenses for this event.
What if I register and can't attend?
You can cancel your registration within the Cvent registration system, or you can transfer your registration until June 15 if you or the transferee pay a $50 transfer processing fee.
If you take the cancellation approach, you may request a refund by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . REFUND POLICY: There was a 10% cancellation fee for all canceled registration through February 28, 2010. Between March 1 and April 30, 2010, there was a 25%
cancellation fee. Between May 1 and May 31, 2010, there is a 50% cancellation fee. No refunds will be made after June 1, 2010. You may consider purchasing travel insurance.
If you wish to transfer your registration to someone else, that is a negotiation between the two of you. We can process the change and switch the registration into their name if you email us by June 15, 2010, and if one of you pays the $50 transfer processing fee on or
before that date. You can get instructions on the process by emailing email@example.com by June 10.
Do we have to register for Keynote Luncheons ahead of time?
Yes. There are a limited number of seats available for these special events, so registering for them early will guarantee you a spot.
Is it safe to give you my credit card information?
Yes, payments made through our registration system are processed by a secure server.Once the registration team is given your payment information, we do not have access to this information again and cannot pull it up. This is for your protection.
I have dietary restrictions. Will you have anything I can eat?
We have the ability to provide you with a kosher, celiac-friendly or allergen-free meal at our buffets but you must tell us ahead of time. When you register, you can indicate your dietary restrictions. If you need to make changes, you can edit your preferences until June 1, 2010. We have to confirm all meals to the hotel at that point. If you've requested a special meal, you must tell your server when you sit down at the meal so they can bring you the right meal. At our buffet meals, at least two dishes will be vegetarian; if you've requested a special meal at one of our buffets, other than the vegetarian/vegan meals, please inform the hotel staff.
(updated 7/2/10 - menu for main food events. Note: the welcoming feast is a buffet. For those who can’t handle spicy - don’t worry - with the exception of the chicken most of the spicy stuff is on the side you you can adjust it to your taste)
When will registration be open at Infinitus?
The Registration Desk will be open in the conference area of the Royal Pacific hotel during the following hours:
THURSDAY: 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
FRIDAY: 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
SATURDAY: 8 a.m. until noon; the Registrar will be on call in the afternoon, so visit Meet & Greet if you need to pick up a registration packet.
Anyone in line at the close of registration will be processed.
Registration will close promptly 15 minutes before any keynote or other major event so that our volunteers may find their seats. Please respect that they are attendees, too. Thank you.
I have a business and would like to sell my products at Infinitus
Booth space in the Infinitus Vendor Room is now available, and the cost of a vendor booth is $500 until July 1, 2010! Table space can also be purchased for $200. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for information on selling your wares.
A vendor booth registration includes two vendor badges, which allows each holder to access the Vendor Room, Art Gallery, Cinematic Alley, the Fandom Craft Faire and pickup Quidditch matches, participate in the formal and informal programming at the Hotel, and attend the Ball. If you are a crafter, artist, writer, or musician, you may also be eligible to participate in our Weighing of the Wands craft fair. Craft Fair sellers must have annual income from sale of such wares that is under $5000. Craft Fair sellers agree not to sell wares elsewhere at the conference, but may discuss/hand out printed material throughout Infinitus, and further agree to sell only works that do not infringe on other’s Intellectual Property rights. More details are coming so keep checking the Infinitus website.

I am an artist and would like to show and/or sell my art at INFINITUS.
We now have a Call for Art out for our Art Gallery. Submissions may include the following: fandom, whimsical, fantasy, 2D and 3D pieces, sculpture, photographic, multimedia, textile creations, and arts and crafts; table-space will be available for three dimensional works. Trans formative works are permitted; we reserve the right to reject any art submission that, upon our review of the artist’s submitted image, violates copyright and/or trademark law.
What in the world is the C&C Dessert Factory?
Enjoy a chocolate fountain and mounds of sweets, plus coffee, tea and lemonade, while participating in a Q&A with, and enjoying table visits from, Chris and Christian, on Saturday, July 17 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.. Tickets are $100 through June 30.
What is the Eric Bowling Scholarship?
The Eric Bowling Scholarship was set up by HPEF friends of Eric Bowling a long time Harry Potter enthusiast. For information on this scholarship go to our scholarship page in the About section. Application deadline was March 31, 2010.
Is StarKidPotter going to perform at Infinitus?
Yes. Members of StarKidPotter will be attending Infinitus 2010. They show the video of their latest production - “A Very Potter Sequel,” perform songs from both shows and also host a Q&A session. They are schedule to appear on Saturday, July 17th. You learn more about it by watching this YouTube video
